SFP-BIDI-(WDM)-Module

The DIAMOND SA flexos BiDi-SFP modules (transceivers) make it possible to transfer data via fibre optics.

The Bi-Di SFP modules are available in single-mode and Gigabit Ethernet. The SFPs have metal housings with latches for the simple removal of the module. They are compatible with connector types F-3000™ and LC.

Most of the active network components (switches, converters, routers) are fitted with modular ports for accommodating optical transceivers. In this way, users have as much flexibility as possible. 

As well as standard SFPs, Diamond SA also offer special user-friendly versions for a bi-directional optical data transfer via one individual single-mode fibre (simplex). This is made possible through the use of various wavelengths for both transfer directions (WDM process – wavelength multiplex) as well as the implementation of a wavelength-sensitive filter on the receiver end.

The transceivers are always used in pairs and work with the wavelengths 1310/1550 nm over a distance of 2 to 10 km.

These pluggable transceivers have the advantage that they must only be acquired if the corresponding ports are also really required. 

The special structure means that the installation can even be carried out during operation (hot swap).

With an SFP Bi-Di transceiver, the transfer capacity in an existing duplex fibre optic cabling system can be doubled very simply.
